Italy hosts one of the world's most famous classic car events and Modena has always linked its name and its automotive history to this "classic".
Today, the 1000 Miglia
is more than just a motoring re-enactment. As the years ago by, it is ever more gaining the characteristics of a tradition, a social and cultural event involving people from all social classes and age bands. The interest of the "Freccia Rossa" never wanes, but becomes if anything ever more consolidated, confirming with the success of this phenomenon the great cultural, social and sporting appeal of the event.
This year the 1000 Miglia
will take place from 22 to 25 May and the more than 700 requests to take part suggest that its fascination and the attraction it exerts for teams from five continents remain unchanged.
In 2003, the quality of the classic cars again promises to be excellent. It starts out from Brescia on 22 May and follows a fascinating itinerary through Mantova, Ferrara, Gambettola, Urbino, Sansepolcro, Spello, Narni and Rome, returning to Brescia via Siena, Florence, Modena and Parma.
In 2002, 372 teams took part in the endurance race for classic cars. Teams from 22 countries have participated in recent editions, at the wheel of cars made by fifty different companies. As ever, this is a genuine travelling museum, a refined and unique catwalk promoting genius, design and technology.
At a moment in time characterised by economic uncertainty and instability in international relationships, the 1000 Miles
represents an excellent means of promoting the sentiments of friendship and peace between peoples, with a valuable intercultural function.
It also has a strong role to play in the tourist, environmental and architectural promotion of Italy's treasures, helping to promote the cities of art, valleys and lesser-known villages of a fascinating and incomparable Italy.
